Walt, YES! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!!!!!! Thank you so much for everything. We cannot wait to return. It was the much needed break/R&R that we needed. We couldn't have found a better place in the mountains to stay. Everything we needed was right there at our finger tips, including the handheld mixer!  Even the wooden furniture was amazing, down to the kitchen chairs! I hope the cabin was found acceptable and clean. We went through and tried our best to leave it how we found it. Thanks again, Tiffany and Steven ****Things we loved: The beds and pillows were SO comfortable! Everything was so quaint and cute, definitely very clean! The hot tub was AMAZING! I'd have to say my absolute favorite was waking up to the fresh mountain air and having all those windows to gaze out of with my cup of coffee! HOW RELAXING!!!!! I swear we can't wait to return!

Yes, we enjoyed our stay very much!  :-)    The cabin is so cozy and spacious---it was really so much more than we expected.  We also loved the small town atmosphere of Andrews (we did our grocery shopping there).  It was the perfect place to spend our honeymoon! I'm sure we'll be back!

'A Mountain Memory' is a quiet, private, two bedrooms, two baths  vacation cabin, close to the Nantahala River. This charming chalet features a comfortable rustic decor with pine paneled cathedral ceilings and wood floors.

Relax in the hot tub and enjoy the peaceful surroundings on the large deck with a picnic area and outside grill. Escape to the mountains for whitewater rafting, fishing, mountain biking and hiking, while enjoying all the conveniences of home.

You have a great place! Very cozy. Very comfortable.

Amenities include all-glass front wall for a beautiful mountain view. A rock faced fireplace stove with gas logs. A well equipped kitchen with microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. Washer/Dryer, central Heat/Air, .

Entertainment amenities include a four person hot tub on the deck, a 50" widescreen Plasma HDTV with DirecTV STARZ! and Total Choice, DVD and VCR player. Free high-speed wireless internet access and US/Canada long distance calls.

Deck has two comfortable Zero Gravity Lafuma recliners, two camping chairs and a charcoal grill.

This cabin is perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary with its cozy fireplace stove and romantic Jacuzzi in the loft; at the same time the spaciousness of the cabin makes it perfect for a small family.

My husband and I had a great time.  We would definitely visit again. The cabin was immaculate and everything was just as described. It looked like it had never been lived in. I would recommend it to anyone who simply wants to get away!!

What a wonderful, relaxing vacation!  We have certainly found our mountain retreat!  Everything about our vacation was absolutely perfect—the location, the house, the furnishings—everything!  We thank you for the delightful week we were able to spend refreshing our minds and bodies in the clean, open air of Topton. The Smoky Mountains are beautiful year round, however Nature's annual autumn color festival is certainly one of the greatest shows on earth and the peak begins in North Carolina's mountains higher elevations in late September and lasts to early November in the lower valleys.

I could barely contain myself, waiting for this trip to "A Mountain Memory". My husband, my son, and I knew it looked great online, but even still we were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived!
Let me say that booking this cabin was the easiest reservation that I have ever accomplished online. There were no charge issues, there was virtually no wait, and all directions arrived to my email so that we had no questions. The drive instructions were perfect and we didn't miss a single turn - and it was totally dark!
The cabin was just beyond perfect. We felt very much at home. The kitchen, the washer and dryer, the layout, the linens...what can I say? We cooked every night that week except one. The beds were fantastic! It was so warm inside that we only knew it was winter when we looked through those fabulous windows along the front of the cabin. Lucky for us, it snowed the last day! That was great. The big tub in the loft and the wi-fi were much appreciated, as was the big television (my son played his new wii in style all week).
The biggest bonus for us was the orange kitty cat that showed up like clockwork every night when the sun set. We fed him every night. I have pictures of him by the hot tub on the deck, and we did try to figure out who he may belong to. Honestly, we hated to leave him as much as we hated to leave the cabin. We've wondered several times since coming home if he still shows up, maybe for other guests, wanting to be rubbed and fed.
It was quiet and private, but it was only minutes from the stores, towns, and the water. We did get to see several waterfalls, thanks to the cabin's location, and that made the trip even more special. We loved that it was just short drives to the lakes and rivers.
I can't think of anything that would have made the cabin, or our vacation, any better. My husband and I will absolutely be back. It was the best trip we have ever been on and we didn't want it to end. We honestly don't want to travel anywhere else...at the cabin we could just be us, and the proximity to fishing, shopping, scenery, gem mines, and dining makes it the only place we would rather be than home. Actually, it felt better than home, Walt.
We needed this vacation and we thank you with all sincerity for providing this cabin to us with such ease of service, thought towards our comfort, and the greatest price we have ever encountered for so many days of rest and relaxation. Returning soon,

We had an enjoyable and memorable stay at Mountain Memory. The cabin was meticulously clean, quaint, and beautifully decorated. For us Floridians, it was cold, but you would never know it from inside our cabin. The central heat supplied us with ample amount of warm air, making us feel all cozy inside. Walt, we had a wonderful vacation!  "A Mountain Memory" was much more than we expected for the price!!!!  Our boys absolutely loved having a loft bedroom to themselves and their own bathroom.  My husband and I drank our coffee on the deck each morning, while listening to the sounds of nature and enjoying the cool mountain breeze. Thank you so much! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at your Mountain Memory Home.  The pictures really don't do your cabins justice once you cross the threshold.  We literally had to force ourselves out of the cabin it was so nice.  We have not decided were we are going this year for our anniversary but your place by far has been the best and well worth the 6hr drive from Greensboro, NC. Your cabin was absolutely lovely and made our stay in North Carolina very, very pleasurable. Very clean and well equipped and the location was just superb for the things we wanted to do. My husband took his motorbike with us so we enjoyed many days of riding the tail of the dragon and even took several day trips to Tennessee. We rafted on the Nantalaha River several times, took a few day hikes on the AT, and did a few of the very challenging trails at Tsali. We also had a lot of fun visiting Asheville and the smaller towns. Great vacation! A fabulous vacation and we would love the rent your cabin on the lake next time. Bobbie

Shari and I had the most wonderful and beautiful time during our stay! We said over and over again to each other that our "Mountain Memory" was the best vacation either of us have ever had! We enjoyed it so much that we never left the driveway in the car during our entire time there! We did take a walk up the road (found out how out of shape we were...) but the rest of the time we just relaxed and enjoyed our time together in "A Mountain Memory." Which is it? Smoky or Smokey?

We spell it both ways on this web site. So, if you're searching for honeymoon, anniversary or family vacation rental accommodations and log homes, cabins and cottages for rent in the "Smokey" mountains, you'll be sure to find us. Both are common spellings. But if you want to be correct about it, spell it the way the National Park Service does — the Great Smoky Mountains.
Smokey the Bear, on the other hand, spells his name the other way.
And if you're wondering about "Smokeys", "Smokys" or "Smokies," they're all correct.

If you searched for Ashville NC, you're not alone. Asheville North Carolina may be the only city name that is not spelled "Ashville".

The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and sports car road. The nearby Cherohala Skyway is quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles of scenic mountain highway. The area also has other roads less traveled, but just as exciting. Come and discover them all.
